  3. three ways in which the trucking industry can become eco friendly

The goods and transport services industry has been largely stagnant for the last five decades. The development of the trucking industry in terms of the design of delivery trucks and methods of transportation has been on a slow trajectory for many years and the collateral damages of it have started to surface today. Large delivery trucks cover almost 20% of the fuel consumption in the United States and the numbers are more or less similar in the lesser developed nations.

The high usage of petroleum in trucks has led to the emission of toxic smoke in the air causing air pollution and other environmental damage. Interestingly, the same goods transport services industry that contributes to environmental damage also makes coins out of the transportation costs that are factored into our daily retail products. So as the situation plays out, we as consumers are facing the harmful effects of pollution and price inflation.

Car manufacturers have come out with many eco-friendly vehicles that can carry out small-scale goods transport services such as trucks for shifting. But the large-scale tractors and trucks still guzzle gas and continue to add on to the existing environmental damage.

It is time for the trucking industry to go green! Let’s see the three effective ways in which trucks can carry out the goods transport services in an eco-friendly manner.

3 Ways to Go Green:

Here are three possible solutions to the pollution crisis that is being caused by delivery trucks in the goods transport services industry across the globe:

- Using Alternative Fuels: Environmental 101; using alternative sources of energy instead of petroleum such as electricity and solar power can be an effective solution to save the planet from excessive air pollution from delivery trucks. With car manufacturers inventing hybrid vehicles using solar panels, this solution is a reality waiting around the corner.

- Reducing the on-road speed: With the existing system of deadlines, tight schedules, and per-mile payment of wage, truck drivers drive as fast as possible during their deliveries. This results in more fuel consumption, hence more emission of toxic gases. By removing or moderating the pressure of deadlines and the per-mile payment wage system, drivers won’t have to speed and emit gasses into the air.

- Aerodynamic Trucks: Aerodynamic trucks are a thing of the future in the goods transport services industry but each day we get closer to it. Luigi Colani has built an aerodynamic delivery truck whose prototype proved to consume almost 30-50% less petroleum than the existing ones. The cost to mass-produce is large but it is a worthy investment to save the lives of a whole planet.

These solutions towards securing eco-friendly delivery trucks will reap many benefits in terms of a healthy environment, efficient good transport services, and reduction of transport costs in retail products.
