Everything’s glamorous on TV. From grocery shopping to shaving, there’s simply nothing the silver screen can’t turn aspirational. But even Tinseltown realizes that when it comes to moving, the struggle is real. Whether it’s a laborious move across cities, or just switching apartments across the hallway, there is always drama in tow. Here are some epic moving day episodes that truly strike a chord:

1. Modern Family – When Alex left for college

The Dunphy home is never bereft of histrionics. With their tearful outbursts and prolonged hugs, this family sure puts the ‘[moving] in moving day. Also, one can’t help but notice that Claire and Phil’s emotional baggage always outweighs their kids’ actual luggage. (Alex carried just ONE suitcase to college, remember?!)

2. How I Met Your Mother – When Ted and Robin decided to move in together

Remember the time Ted and Robin wanted to move in together, but couldn’t, because Ted’s delivery truck got hijacked by Barney? Now, who would’ve thought a hired truck with personal belongings could run into that kind of trouble?!

3. FRIENDS – When Rachel and Monica lost the bet

That moment, when Monica and Rachel lost a bet/quiz that made them forfeit their apartment to Joey and Chandler, is all but entrenched in every Friends fan’s mind. Although the move was only across the hallway, the anguish of giving up their large, comfortable apartment compelled the girls to make the boys an irresistible offer, in order to win their home back. Do you remember what it was that they did?

4. The Big Bang Theory – When Sheldon and Amy were made to live together

Who can forget the absurd experiment that brought these two socially inept scientists to move in together? We’re pretty sure that the only thing more difficult than the process of ‘household shifting’ is having a roommate like Sheldon!

5. The Office – When Michael Scott left Scranton

No matter how annoying Michael Scott may be a boss, there is no debating the fact that bidding a farewell to him was a hard thing for fans of The Office to do. We’re also certain, though, that his move must’ve been harder still for the Goods Transport Service he hired to move his stuff to Colorado!
